We’re hiring sales reps. – Although this isn’t new to me I still find it hard to believe how naive (or dumb!?) applicants can be. Take computer skills for example. Or language. Or both. So many people claim to be expert users of Microsoft Office, then fail to properly align table data on their CV or even to spell check. Right now I feel a tendency to hire every single applicant who got those two details right. Sadly this will leave openings.

I am hardly what you could call an Office pro, and yet I find it sometimes painful to watch my co-workers struggle with a simple word processor or spreadsheet. It’s kinda embarrassing – for both parties – when the UNIX geek gives others office tips.
